Character Design

How I work with designing characters so far is I start with research. Angels, demons, animal spirits, stories from Mexican and Peruvian cultures, film genres; these are very meaningful worlds to explore. I then proceed to create their stories based on the most interesting people whom deserve redemption to society. I like to think creative people, animators, comic book artists, filmmakers, comedians, and any other content creators are the real heroes.

South American Spirits

We live in a world where spirits of all cultures and beliefs are able to adapt to their physical surroundings. As an artist, I try to see beyond the physical. It is possible that the paths we choose in this life come from a spiritual presence; maybe all of our creative jobs have existed since the beginning and they are passed on from the ancient beings we connect to in life. Maybe our mailmen were descended from the Andean Chasqui who receive their gifts from messenger angels. Maybe our female athletes have a spiritual relationship with the Amazons. Maybe even our sculptors, painters, and illustrators have had an experience with the angels who swore to protect the creativity that created the Universe. I love exploring the beyond; I'm not afraid to ask Why.

This is my main medium of exploration. I like to create characters that resemble the most interesting and underappreciated experiences I've faced so far. I also like to keep the drawing that meant so much to me growing up.
